THE PROJUMP® SUSPENSION SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION

THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE PROJUMP® SUSPENSION STIRRUP SYSTEM IS TO AUGMENT THE PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES OF THE RIDER IN MAINTAINING HARMONIC BALANCE WITH THE HORSE AND TO AVOID SHOCK TO THE RIDER AND THE HORSE'S BACK.

FORCE AND RIDING
Force is created by the forward and downward motion of the horse and rider, especially during the two-point canter/gallop and when jumping. The amount and variability of the force that is created by a horse-and-rider combination is dependent on several significant variables, including rider's weight and height of jumps.

The force created can be substantial and often produces shock to the rider and/or horse resulting in temporary loss of harmonic balance and, under certain conditions, injuring the rider's body (muscles & tendons) or horse's back as the shock can be passed from the stirrups through the leathers to the saddle and ultimately to the horse's back - resulting in chronic back pain.

RIDERS ATTEMPT TO ABSORB THESE FORCES AND ELIMINATE THE SHOCK TO THEMSELVES AND THE HORSE'S BACK THROUGH FLEXION OF THEIR ANKLES. THIS ALLOWS THEM TO STAY IN HARMONIC BALANCE WITH THE HORSE. THEIR DEGREE OF SUCCESS IS DEPENDENT UPON THE LEVEL OF SHOCK AND THE PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES OF EACH RIDER.

How much force can be generated while riding and jumping?
The PROJUMP® staff and its team of engineers, mathematicians, and computer scientists have developed a computerized system to measure the forces created while riding on the flat and jumping.

Our unique hardware and software computer system – and we know of no other like it in the world – is worn by our test riders of various heights and weights and measures the forces created while riding and jumping various size jumps.
These data-gathering test rides using variations in the significant variables in force creation provide our computer system with measurements no less than 200 times per second.

The resulting analysis is fed into our database
and this information is used in custom-designing
each pair of PROJUMP® Stirrups.
