QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Since each pair of PROJUMP® Stirrups is custom-made for each rider, what information do you need about the rider?
In order to produce a custom-made pair of PROJUMP® Stirrups, we need to know several rider-specific characteristics such as rider’s height and weight, the maximum height of jumps typically jumped, and the riding discipline (i.e. Hunter, Jumper or Eventer) as well as some additional information. The rider-specific information is identified on the PROJUMP® System order form.

Other companies claim they reduce or eliminate shock.
How is PROJUMP
® different?
Many product companies such as saddle and stirrup manufacturers attempt to reduce shock through their product design.  For example:  Slanted stirrup bottoms and hinged stirrups are designed to facilitate the flexion of the rider's ankle, thereby assisting the rider's body to absorb as much shock as possible.  PROJUMP® Stirrups also facilitate the flexion of the rider's ankle, but more importantly, they provide a patented two-stage shock absorption system that absorb shock levels far beyond those that can be handled naturally by the rider's body - thereby avoiding injury to the rider (sprains and strains) and horse's back.

Are PROJUMP® Stirrups heavier than other stirrups?
No...  They weigh the same as hinged stirrups.

Why are PROJUMP® stirrups not sold in tack stores and why are they so expensive compared to other stirrups?
Just like high-end custom-made boots and saddles, the PROJUMP® System is constructed to individual requirements. The PROJUMP® System has well over one hundred variations and therefore can’t be inventoried and sold in tack stores. Consequently, each pair of PROJUMP® Stirrups must be manufactured to the “individual’s requirements” at the time the order is placed. It takes between three and four weeks for the data to be analyzed and the stirrups to be manufactured to specifications. Virtually all of the PROJUMP® components are custom-manufactured parts made exclusively for our product from the finest materials available; for example, most of our metal parts are constructed from lightweight aerospace aluminum, and our nylon-lined stirrup leathers are custom-made for us in England from the finest calf leather.

Since each pair is custom-made based on rider characteristics, do I need to replace them if my body weight increases or decreases, or if the height of my jumps increases or decreases?
The stirrups are manufactured to be at their optimal performance within a reasonable range. For example, body weight can change by approximately 8 to 10 percent in either direction which, for most riders, would not result in either a too-stiff or too-soft feel. (So please provide us with your actual weight, not your desired weight.) Jump heights can increase up to 6 inches and your PROJUMP® System will still be at an acceptable performance level. In the event that there is one significant change or a combination of changes you should have your PROJUMP® System reconditioned to your new specifications for a relatively small fee. When you receive your PROJUMP® System, all of this information will be explained in the accompanying material and Care and Use manual.

One of the individual rider characteristics is maximum height typically jumped. If that height is significantly higher than heights in other classes I may ride in, such as schooling or training jumpers, will the system still work?
Yes. For example, a Grand Prix jumper rider may be jumping a maximum height of 5'+ but will often also ride in lower divisions such as training and preliminary. When riding in a lower division, Stage 1 (two-point canter/gallop) will respond the same as in higher divisions; Stage 2 (jumping) will continue to support the rider, but not to the same degree as at higher height levels. The reason for this is very simple: A Grand Prix rider’s body needs more help at the higher shock-producing levels of 5'+ than at 3'9" since his/her body is accustomed to absorbing more of the shock at the lower shock-producing levels.

Why is there so much legalese protecting PROJUMP® on the order form and purchase agreement?
We at PROJUMP® are passionate about our unique product. This product is intended for intermediate, advanced and professional riders. We all know the risks of equestrian sports and we doubt there will be many purchasers of the PROJUMP® System who have not had at least one previous riding injury. We are sure that you have noticed that many equestrian products are made by foreign companies largely out of reach of the United States court system. We are proud to be an American company manufacturing a “Made in America” product, and we intend to stay that way. Our warranty information is included for your review.
